Satisfactory Progress Assessment & Graduation Requirements

All Students are monitored to measure development and progress. Academic and technical performance are weighed in all courses by the use of both periodic written examinations and technical critiques, and with the use of an application final. All exams and critiques are graded by the use of a point system. The points are then converted into a percentage. In order to pass, the Student must achieve a score of 70% or higher. Homework and classroom assignments are graded, and must be completed and presented prior to graduation.

Prior to graduation, the student must complete the following:
  • Achieve a cumulative grade point average of 70% for each Course
  • Satisfy all financial obligations to the school
  • Complete the enrolled course or program within 1.5 times the normal length

Each Student receives notice of their progress at 25% of completion, at 50% of completion, and at the end of the Course. Each Student must maintain a passing grade of 70%, as a minimum, at each level of progress. If a Student is at 70% or higher at each level, they will be notified verbally.

If a Student is at 69% or lower, they will be notified in writing with a deficiency report. At that time, the Student will be placed on academic probation until the next assessment period. If the Student has not improved their grade by the next assessment period, they will be suspended from class. A Student who has been suspended will be allowed to return the next time the course is offered, as space is available.

If a Student fails to complete any Course or Program, for any reason, the maximum time allowed to return and complete the missed requirements is 1.5 times the normal duration of clock hours offered for that Course or Program. As an example: Beauty Make-up Artistry (day session) is normally 4 weeks long, therefore a Student has a maximum of 6 weeks, in total, to complete the course requirements to receive a passing grade; the Master Program is normally 19 weeks long, therefore a Student has a maximum of 27 weeks, in total, to complete the program. If a Student fails to complete any Course or Program within the 1.5 period of time, and the student is not on a leave of absence, the incompletion shall be converted to a failure at the end of the period.

The exception to this policy shall only be for authorized Leaves of Absence, approved by the School Director prior to the period of the absence. At the end of the Leave of Absence, maximum of one year, if the requirements are not met for completion of the Course or Program, then the leave shall expire and the incompletion will be converted to a failure.

A Student who returns to complete the Course or Program for which they received an incomplete, shall meet all the standards necessary to receive a passing grade. Upon completion of the required standards, the Student shall receive a Certificate or Diploma in accordance with their original completion date.
